Restoration

The mortar between the bricks of your home’s walls is a crucial part of the overall construction. For instance, the substance separates – rather than, contrary to popular belief, holds together – the individual masonry units and fills irregularities that may be on the bricks’ bedding faces.

However, weathering will mean that, at one time or another, that mortar will look aged. When that happens, you should have the brickwork repointed for the following reasons:

  • You can help protect much of the surface area
  • Your walls can look better in texture and shadow
  • Brickwork repointing can prevent leaks and damp
  • The structure’s integrity can be preserved
  • More repointing might not be necessary for 50 or 60 years
